1. Sydney

I’ve lived in Sydney, Australia’s largest city, since 2016, and it’s truly a nature-lover’s dream. If you’re looking for things to do in Sydney, including walks, beaches and fun-filled day trips, choose a category below or click the button to visit my Sydney page.

2. Melbourne

Repeatedly voted as Australia’s most-liveable city, Melbourne is cool, cosmopolitan and packed with arts and culture. Whether you fancy a weekend exploring street art and laneway cafes or a nature-filled trip to nearby Phillip Island, Melbourne has something for you.

 3. Perth

I lived in Perth for five months back in 2015 and loved the city’s pretty riverside views, impressive white beaches and nearby natural attractions such as Rottnest Island. It also has more sunny days per year on average than any other Australian state capital! Check out my posts below to plan your visit, or click the button to visit my Perth page.

4. Brisbane

I spent a year living in Australia’s river city when I was an exchange student. Blessed with a mild climate, Brisbane has a choice of attractions such as beautiful botanic gardens, cliff climbing at Kangaroo Point, restaurants at pretty South Bank and nightclubs in Fortitude Valley. Discover things to do in my blog posts below.

5. Adelaide

The South Australian city of Adelaide is pretty underrated, in my opinion. With beaches like Glenelg and Henley, a large CBD and a pretty riverside area in Elder Park, there’s plenty of fun to be had in this city. You can also head out into the Adelaide Hills for a day of hiking or exploring. Check out my posts below to learn more.

6. Canberra

If art and culture is your thing, consider a trip to Canberra to explore the many museums and galleries. While it’s smaller and less busy than your typical capital city, Canberra is still worth a visit, if only to check out Parliament House and the long, symmetrical Anzac Parade.

7. Hobart

With a backdrop of majestic Mount Wellington and a pretty harbourside area, Hobart is one of the more picturesque Australian cities. As well as enjoying beaches and the CBD, you can explore historic Battery Point, browse Salamanca Markets and visit the famous MONA art gallery. Check out my posts below, or click the button to view all Tasmania guides.

8. Regional Cities

In a country as huge as Australia, there’s much more to see than just the capital cities. If you’d like to learn more about some of Australia’s regional cities, check out my destination guides below, or click the button to read about Australia’s different states.

9. Plan Your Trip – Best Travel Resources

If you're planning a trip in Australia, here are the travel companies I'd recommended using. Please note that if you book through these links, I may receive a small commission at no extra cost to you, which helps me to keep producing free content for this website. Thank you!

Hotels Combined

HotelsCombined compares all the big hotel comparison sites and displays the cheapest offers for each hotel. You'll find a wide range of accommodation types too, including hotels, hostels, apartments, holiday parks and homestays.

Aussie House Sitters

If you'd like to stay in a local's home for free while they're away, in return for looking after their pets, house sitting is a great option. I secured plenty of house sits through Aussie House Sitters when I travelled Australia.

Get Your Guide

Rather than scour different tour companies, just search for your destination on Get Your Guide. It'll bring up a compilation of available activities and tours, so you can compare what's on offer and pick the best  option for you.

Trusted Housesitters

For worldwide house sitting, I'd recommend Trusted Housesitters. You can even choose a membership that includes house-sit cancellation insurance and accident and third party liability protection.

Wise Currency

For foreign currency transfers, I'd recommend using an online currency specialist to avoid hefty bank fees. I've been using Wise since I moved to Australia, as they're transparent with rates, simple to use and your money moves across quickly.

$10 off PetCloud

If you need a local person to take care of your pets during your holiday, use this link or the discount code LISA2754 to receive $10 credit towards your first booking with PetCloud, whether that's for a house sitter, pet visits or pet host.
